Blue Resourcing Process

Blue Resourcing can reduce project costs by managing the staffing process for you. Recent studies indicate that firms such as Blue Resourcing, who are knowledgeable of and equipped to exercise spend management techniques, may save their clients as much as 30% on the costs of staff procurement.

This level of savings is made possible by unique category expertise and the use of specialised technology to better organise and rationalise the staffing process. (Report by Aberdeen Group, 2004).

Outlined below is the process by which Blue Resourcing is able to offer both savings and qualitative improvement to the staffing of your projects.

Where applicable - you may see "pop-up" examples of the tools that are employed or client deliverables that are provided during various process stages. Simply click on the buttons in the far right-hand column to see each example.

Stage 1: Needs Assessment

Stage 1: Needs Assessment

To ensure that our staffing process is targeted to support your precise project needs, we will first work with you to:
  1. Identify the specific consulting roles to be performed (based on project plan and work break-down)
  2. Define each Consulting Role and its expected outputs
  3. Identify the competencies/skills/experience required of each role
Consulting Roles

Role Competencies will be job specific, operationally focused and unique to each position. Finally, will ask the client to assign a weighting of relative importance to each competency so we may ensure an optimal "fit" of candidate capabilities to roles.

Stage 2: Recruitment

Stage 2: Recruitment

Sorting through reams of resumes can be a mind-numbing task. Gleaning a particle of difference between the lot is a job for the forensics lab.

We counsel potential candidates that their best opportunity to achieve a mutually beneficial placement is to provide an unvarnished inventory of their actual capabilities and experiences that may be matched with the real requirements of a job. To that end, our Online Assessment Tools for consulting candidates are designed to measure that relative "fit" between capabilities and requirements. Additional qualitative data is obtained through behavioural interviews with candidates.

As an outcome of this process, we are able to provide clients a comparative League Table of potential project candidates as well as Individual Candidate Profiles that reliably represent an individual's suitability for a specific consulting role.

Stage 3: Placement Stage

Stage 3: Placement Stage

Once candidates are approved by you, we will work to place the consultant on the project. This will include:

  • Screening/background check
  • Project Orientation Briefing
  • Combination of web-based and one-on-one project briefing
  • Logistics (directions/hotel reservations/security pass etc)

Stage 4: Project Administration

Stage 4: Project Administration

We will assume responsibility for all project administration on an on going basis. This will include:

  • Frequent (weekly) progress review with each consultant
  • Dedicated Blue Resourcing project "hotline" for administrative issues (logistics etc)
  • Update of Project Resource Plan

Stage 5: Project Reporting / Invoicing / Documentation

Stage 5: Project Reporting / Invoicing / Documentation

We will complete a set of weekly reports (on the basis of information tracked each week:

  • Project Resource Plan (projected)
  • Weekly Utilisation report/Expenses to date
  • Consultant status/progress report

All reports will be completed via web and will be posted on Blue Resourcing website for client review

Stage 6: Project Evaluation

Stage 6: Project Evaluation

At appropriate milestones in the project lifecycle (e.g., upon completion of Stage deliverables) we will undertake interim checks of the project and consulting personnel, to consist of:

  • Summative evaluation of Blue consulting resources - focusing on performance to expectations
  • Review of current project plan - focusing on changes with implications for staffing

This is an opportunity to ensure client satisfaction - and institute corrective measures if necessary. It is also an opportunity to determine the need for any adjustments to consulting skill-set(s) or resource headcount.
